Accessories

This is an example of an idea i had for accessories for our models to wear. I thought they would fit in great with the pom poms on my garment and if every model wore them it could tie our collection together. To make them we could just buy some cheap earrings and make small pom poms and some how attach them to the earring. This is just a maybe and it might not work it could be a problem attaching pom poms to normal earrings especially when they aren't already made with pom poms attached. Another problem would be if the rest of the group didn't like them and didn't want them to be apart of their garments but at the end of the day we could make them different colours to suit every garment.

Step Five: More Feathers

This is how the shoulder piece now looks like with the feathers stitched on. It definitely looks better than it did, it gives it more definition and adds texture as we now have the softness of the feathers with the fluffiness of the wool. I also think it adds a bit of personality to the garment, its quirky and cool and fits in perfectly with our 'tribal' trend and with the other garments in our collection.

As we added feathers to our skirt we thought we would add them to our shoulder piece too. This is a design of what it may look like.

Step Four: Feathers

As the whole group are making different outfits for the collection we aren't really getting together and talking about how it will be a 'collection'. After a mini crit we discovered none of our outfits went together, one of the garments in the collection had feathers attached to it and it looked really effective so to make it link together a bit more we've added feathers too. We wanted purple feathers to match with the purple tassels and the purple in the pom pom. We stitched the feathers all away around the hem of the skirt, we put them on the hem and not further up because the skirt is a tiny bit short for the model so this adds a little extra length for her too.

Step Three: Adjustments

After fitting the skirt to the model we realised with the skirt being gathered at the bottom it wasn't very flattering and with it being tight around the anckles it made it difficult for the model to walk in. We decided to completly un-pick the whole thing, we were nervous at first in case we ruined it but we're glad we did its more floaty and its now more on trend.

Step Two: Shoulder Piece

To make my shoulder piece I made a number of two different sized tassels. I placed the longer tassels (the white ones) together in a bunch and stitched them together. I did exactly the same with the smaller tassels (the purple ones). Finally I made the pom pom in the same colours as the tassels and stitched in place in the centre of the tassels.

I quicky drew up a quick sketch of what it might look like on my garment.
I first got my shoulder piece idea from looking at the class trend board. You learn so much from these as you see things that you didn't even know were on trend. As I found out pom poms were on trend I thought why not incorporate them in my garment.

Step One

This is how our garment looks so far. For our next step we are thinking about adding a shoulder piece by making tassels and maybe pom poms.

The skirt was boring so we simply turned it upside down. As the waist band is now around the ankles the biggest part of the skirt was around the waist we had to make it smaller to fit the model. To do this we put pleats all the way around the waist band to bring it in. By doing this the skirt matches the top just by adding simple pleats, but this wasn't intentional at first but when we did it, it give it extra detail and added some personality to the skirt because its a bit different from the 'normal' maxi skirt.

We added pleats around the neckline and shoulders to add detail and texture and to add depth.

We started by rolling up the bottom of the vest top, at first this was just for quickness but when it was fully rolled up into a crop top we liked the roughness of it. It seemed to fit in with the tribal trend as its not a straight hem its sort of 'wild' in a way, like the jungle.
